Installation Guide – Luna Bianco LF French Pattern Leather Finished Marble Pavers
Tools & Materials Needed
Materials: crushed stone base, leveling sand or thin-set mortar, joint filler (polymeric sand, fine sand, or grout), penetrating stone sealer, clean water.
Tools: tape measure, shovel, plate compactor, long level, rubber mallet, screed board, wet saw with diamond blade, grout float, spacers, broom, safety gear (gloves, goggles).
Step 1 — Base Preparation: Strong & Level Foundation
Excavate the installation area according to required depth (consider stone thickness + base layers).
Compact the soil thoroughly.
Spread and compact 4–6″ (100–150 mm) of crushed stone or gravel. For vehicle traffic, increase to 8–12″ (200–300 mm).
Maintain a drainage slope of 1/4″ per foot (~2%).
Apply a 1″ (25 mm) layer of leveling sand or a 3/4–1″ (20–30 mm) mortar bed, screeded smooth.
Step 2 — Dry Layout: Plan the French Pattern
Dry-lay the pavers in the French Pattern arrangement to preview the layout.
Mix pavers from different crates to blend tones and veining naturally.
Mark centerlines or reference points for symmetry.
Plan edge cuts in advance.
Step 3 — Setting the Pavers: Sand-Set or Mortar-Set
Sand-Set Method:
Place pavers directly on the screeded sand bed.
Tap gently with a rubber mallet.
Check level with a long straightedge or level.
Install edge restraints to keep the pattern secure.
Mortar-Set Method:
Spread flexible thin-set mortar onto the prepared base.
Back-butter each paver for full adhesion.
Set the paver, tap lightly with a mallet, and check alignment.
Allow mortar to cure per manufacturer’s instructions before traffic.
Step 4 — Joint Spacing: Natural Look & Safety
Step 5 — Joint Filling
Sand-Set: sweep polymeric sand or clean fine sand into joints.
Mortar-Set: use non-sanded or flexible grout for narrow joints.
Always sweep excess material before it hardens.
Test grout/sand color first—white marble can stain easily.
Step 6 — Sealing: Protection & Enhancement
Once joints are fully cured, apply a penetrating stone sealer.
Always test sealer on a small area first.
Reapply every 1–3 years depending on traffic and weather exposure.
Avoid topical/gloss sealers that may alter color or slip resistance.
Step 7 — Initial Cleaning & Curing
Allow joint filler or mortar to cure before heavy use (24–72 hrs depending on product).
Clean the surface with a broom and rinse gently with water.
Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Maintenance Tips
Sweep or rinse regularly to remove dirt and debris.
Clean spills immediately to avoid staining.
Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners.
Avoid salt or harsh de-icers in freezing climates.
Reseal periodically to maintain protection.
⚠️ Important Note: Luna Bianco LF is a natural marble. Variations in color, veining, and texture are part of its beauty. Always dry-lay and inspect pavers before permanent installation for a harmonious visual flow.
