Installation Guide – Dolomite Polished Marble Chair Rail Trim (2″x12″)

Step 1: Wall Preparation – Clean and Level

Ensure the wall is smooth, clean, and completely dry.
Complete any adjacent tile or wall installations before applying the chair rail.
Mark a precise horizontal guide line where the trim will sit, typically at the top edge of field tiles or accent areas.

Step 2: Dry Layout – Plan and Align

Dry-lay all trim pieces to assess veining, symmetry, and overall balance.
Cut pieces as needed with a wet saw using a fine diamond blade; smooth edges for a seamless appearance.
Test-fit corners or returns if framing panels or features.

Step 3: Adhesive Application – Setting the Trim

Recommended Mortars:

Laticrete 254 Platinum White
Mapei Ultralite Mortar (white, non-sag)

Instructions:

Use a margin trowel to apply thin-set mortar to the back of each trim piece.
Back-butter each piece to ensure complete adhesion.
Press the trim firmly along the guide line.
Maintain alignment with painter’s tape or spacers until adhesive sets (approx. 24 hours).

Step 4: Grouting – Smooth Finish

Use unsanded grout to avoid scratching polished surfaces.
Fill gaps between trim pieces and immediately remove excess with a damp sponge.
After 30–45 minutes, buff the surface with a clean microfiber cloth to remove any grout haze.

Step 5: Sealing – Long-Term Protection

Once grout has fully cured (about 72 hours), apply a penetrating marble-safe sealer.
Reapply sealer periodically, particularly in high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms.

Maintenance Tips

Clean only with pH-neutral, stone-safe products.
Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that may dull the polish.
Dust and wipe surfaces gently to preserve the pristine look.
