Step 1: Surface Preparation

• Excavate the area to a depth of 6–8 inches for proper base installation.

• Ensure the sub-base is compacted crushed stone or gravel for stability and drainage.

• Add a 1-inch layer of bedding sand and screed it level.

• Verify the area is clean, flat, and free of debris.

Step 2: Layout Planning

• Dry-lay the pavers to understand color variation and pattern flow.

• Start from a corner or central reference point, working outward.

• Use the French Pattern set composition to pre-plan tile arrangement:

  • 2 pcs – 16″ x 16″

  • 1 pc – 16″ x 24″

  • 1 pc – 8″ x 16″

  • 2 pcs – 8″ x 8″

• Snap chalk lines to maintain straight alignments.

Step 3: Laying the Pavers

• Place each paver into the bedding layer, ensuring full contact.

• Use a rubber mallet to gently tap tiles into place.

• Maintain 1/8″–1/4″ joint spacing for consistent grout lines.

• Check levels frequently to avoid uneven surfaces.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting

• Use a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for marble to trim tiles where necessary.

• Pre-fit edge and corner pieces before final placement.

• Smooth cut edges with a stone rubbing block or hand polisher.

Step 5: Joint Stabilization

• Sweep polymeric sand into the joints to lock tiles in place.

• Compact the surface lightly to remove voids and ensure stability.

• Mist with water to activate polymeric binding agents if applicable.

Step 6: Sealing & Maintenance

• Apply a penetrating sealer suitable for sandblasted marble to protect against stains and weathering.

• Reapply sealer every 1–2 years, depending on exposure.

• Clean regularly with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.

Important Notes

• The sandblasted surface is slip-resistant, but always use caution around wet areas.

• Marble is a natural stone; color and veining variations are normal.

• For best results, consider professional installation.
