Installation Guide – Norwegian River 6″x12″ Tumbled Travertine Paver

Important Note
This guide focuses solely on paver installation. Proper sub-base and bedding preparation must be completed by qualified professionals beforehand.

Step 1: Layout & Planning
Dry-lay pavers to evaluate natural color variation, veining, and tumbled edges.
Choose a pattern suitable for 6″x12″ pavers, such as herringbone, basketweave, or running bond.
Use chalk lines or a laser to mark straight reference lines for accurate alignment.

Step 2: Placing Pavers
Gently position each paver onto the prepared bedding layer along your layout lines.
Maintain consistent joint spacing of 1/8″–1/4″.
Lightly tap with a rubber mallet to ensure full contact and a level surface.
Check edges frequently for lippage and adjust bedding as needed.

Step 3: Cutting & Edge Treatment
Use a wet saw with a diamond blade rated for travertine to make precise cuts.
Support small-format pavers while cutting to avoid chipping.
Smooth exposed cut edges with a rubbing stone to blend with the tumbled finish.

Step 4: Joint Filling
Fill gaps with polymeric sand or a travertine-compatible joint filler.
Compact the surface gently and sweep away excess.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist to activate per manufacturer instructions.

Step 5: Sealing & Care
Once the installation is dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer suitable for exterior travertine.
Re-seal every 1–2 years depending on exposure and traffic.
Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.

Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural material and may show color variation, veining, and surface pits—these are inherent traits, not defects. Always dry-lay and inspect tiles before installation. Professional installation is recommended for optimal performance and appearance.
