Installation Guide – River Blend French Pattern Tumbled Travertine
Step 1: Base Preparation – Level and Stable
Excavate the area to a suitable depth for a sand or mortar base.
Compact soil thoroughly and add a 2–4″ layer of crushed stone or gravel.
Ensure proper slope for drainage (1/4″ per foot recommended).
Screed a layer of sand or mortar level across the surface.
Step 2: Dry Layout – Plan the Pattern
Dry-lay several pavers to visualize the French Pattern layout.
Mix pieces from multiple crates for consistent color and veining distribution.
Mark centerlines or reference points to maintain symmetry during installation.
Step 3: Setting the Pavers – Adhesive or Dry-Set
For sand-set: place pavers directly on the screeded sand and tap lightly into place.
For mortar installation: spread flexible adhesive or thin-set and back-butter each paver.
Use a rubber mallet and a long level to ensure all pavers are flat and aligned.
Step 4: Joint Spacing – Natural Flow
Step 5: Grouting or Filling Joints
Fill joints with sand, polymeric sand, or non-sanded grout depending on method.
Sweep off excess material before it hardens to maintain a clean surface.
Step 6: Sealing – Protect and Enhance
Apply a penetrating stone sealer to prevent stains and bring out natural colors.
Reapply periodically depending on foot traffic, moisture, and outdoor exposure.
Maintenance Tips:
Sweep or hose down regularly to remove debris.
Clean spills immediately to prevent staining.
Use pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.
Important Note:
River Blend travertine is natural stone; color, veining, and texture will vary. Always dry-lay and inspect pavers before installation for best visual results.
