Installation Guide – Charcoal 24″x24″ Tumbled Travertine Paver
Important Notice
This guide covers only the paver placement process. Preparation of the sub-base and bedding should be completed by experienced professionals before installing the pavers.
Step 1: Dry Layout & Planning
Lay out the pavers without adhesive to review natural color variations, veining, and surface texture.
Arrange them in a visually balanced pattern, such as a straight grid or running bond, to ensure smooth alignment for large-format pieces.
Mark reference lines to maintain straight rows and uniform spacing.
Step 2: Paver Placement
Position each 24″x24″ paver carefully on the prepared bedding surface.
Maintain joint gaps of 1/8″–1/4″ for sand or compatible joint filler.
Lightly tap with a rubber mallet to ensure each paver is level and fully seated.
Regularly check for evenness to prevent lippage, especially with larger pieces.
Step 3: Cutting & Adjustments
Use a wet saw with a diamond blade suitable for travertine for precise cuts.
Secure the paver during cutting to avoid chipping or cracking.
Smooth cut edges with a rubbing stone to preserve the natural tumbled look.
Step 4: Joint Filling
Fill all gaps with polymeric sand or a joint filler approved for travertine.
Gently compact the surface, then sweep away excess material.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist to activate bonding, following the product instructions.
Step 5: Sealing & Maintenance
Once fully dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer designed for exterior travertine.
Re-seal every 1–2 years, or as needed based on weather and foot traffic.
Clean only with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products that could damage the surface.
Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural stone and may show variations in tone, veining, and surface pits—this is part of its unique character. Always inspect and dry-lay pavers prior to final installation. Professional installation is strongly recommended to ensure durability and the best results.
