Installation Guide – Silver Tumbled 12″x24″ Travertine Paver
Important Note
This guide focuses solely on the paver installation stage. Proper sub-base and bedding preparation should be completed by trained professionals before beginning.
Step 1: Dry Layout & Planning
Arrange pavers without adhesive to assess natural color variation, veining, and tumbled edge differences.
Choose a pattern that minimizes lippage for large-format pavers; running bond or ashlar layouts are ideal.
Mark straight reference lines using chalk or a laser to ensure level, consistent courses.
Step 2: Placing Pavers
Carefully position each 12″x24″ paver on the prepared bedding layer according to your planned layout.
Maintain consistent joint spacing of 1/8″–1/4″ to allow for joint filler.
Tap lightly with a rubber mallet to set each paver; frequently check edges for levelness to prevent uneven surfaces.
Step 3: Cutting & Edge Treatment
Use a wet saw with a diamond blade rated for travertine for precise cuts.
Support large pavers during cutting to prevent cracking or edge damage.
Smooth any cut edges with a rubbing stone to match the tumbled finish.
Step 4: Filling Joints
Fill joints with polymeric sand or a compatible travertine joint filler.
Compact gently and sweep away excess material.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist as directed by the manufacturer to activate.
Step 5: Sealing & Care
Once the installation is complete and dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer designed for exterior travertine.
Reapply sealer every 1–2 years depending on exposure and foot traffic.
Clean with pH-neutral stone cleaners only; avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners.
Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural material. Variations in tone, surface pits, and veining are normal characteristics—not defects. Always dry-lay and inspect pavers before final installation. Professional installation is recommended to achieve optimal results in appearance and durability.
