Installation Guide – Silver Tumbled 16″x24″ Travertine Paver
Important Note
This guide addresses only the paver installation phase. Proper sub-base and bedding preparation should be completed by qualified professionals prior to installation.
Step 1: Dry Layout & Planning
Arrange pavers without adhesive to assess natural color variation, veining, and tumbled edge differences.
Select a pattern such as running bond, ashlar, or staggered grid that balances tones and minimizes cuts.
Use chalk lines or a laser to mark straight reference lines for accurate alignment.
Step 2: Placing Pavers
Carefully set each 16″x24″ paver onto the prepared bedding layer according to your layout.
Maintain consistent joint spacing of 1/8″–1/4″.
Lightly tap with a rubber mallet to seat each paver and ensure a level surface.
Check adjacent edges regularly to prevent lippage.
Step 3: Cutting & Edge Finishing
Use a wet saw with a travertine-rated diamond blade for precise cuts.
Support large-format pavers during cutting to avoid edge chipping or fractures.
Smooth exposed cut edges with a rubbing stone to match the tumbled finish.
Step 4: Filling Joints
Fill joints with polymeric sand or a travertine-compatible joint filler.
Compact gently and sweep away excess material.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist to activate according to manufacturer instructions.
Step 5: Sealing & Maintenance
Once installation is complete and dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer suitable for exterior travertine.
Reapply sealer every 1–2 years, or more frequently in areas with high exposure.
Clean only with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.
Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural material with inherent tonal variation, veining, and surface pits. These are not defects. Always dry-lay and inspect pavers before final installation. Professional installation is recommended for optimal durability and appearance.
