Step 1: Surface Preparation – Build a Reliable Base
Begin with a clean, dry surface free from dust, grease, or residues that may interfere with adhesion. Ensure the substrate is flat, solid, and crack-free. In moisture-prone areas like showers, apply a high-quality waterproofing membrane. Remove any trims, outlet covers, or obstacles that could disrupt the tile layout. Use a leveling compound to smooth out uneven spots as needed.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Balance and Symmetry
Locate the center of your installation area to maintain a harmonious, symmetrical layout. Dry-lay several mosaic sheets to assess the natural flow of Carrara marble’s subtle gray veining and overall color consistency. Adjust sheet placement to avoid small, awkward cuts along edges. Use 1.5–3 mm spacers between sheets to ensure uniform grout lines.

Step 3: Adhesive Application – Choose the Proper Thin-Set

Instructions:
Use a white, non-staining thin-set mortar designed for natural stone to protect the polished surface. Mix small batches that can be applied within 30 minutes. Spread adhesive with a 1/4″ notched trowel—coat first with the flat side, then comb at a 45° angle for even coverage. Back-butter each sheet to ensure full adhesion and reduce lippage. Work in small sections to prevent premature drying.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Precision and Care
Cut tiles with a wet saw using a fine diamond blade suitable for marble to prevent chipping. Mark cuts carefully with a pencil and smooth edges with a stone file or rubbing block to maintain the polished finish. Dry-fit sheets to verify alignment and pattern flow before permanent placement.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Protect the Petit Beurre Pattern
Start from the center and work outward to maintain symmetry. Press mesh-backed sheets firmly yet gently into the adhesive. Use spacers to keep grout lines even.
