Installation Guide – Avalon White 6″x12″ Leathered Marble Paver
Material Overview
The Avalon White 6″x12″ Marble Paver features a leathered (brushed) finish, providing a subtle texture and slip-resistant surface. Designed for outdoor horizontal applications such as patios, walkways, and terraces. Not recommended for high-load driveways unless additional reinforcement is applied.
Step 1: Base Preparation (Dry-Set Method)
Excavate the area to a depth of 6″–8″, considering local soil and climate conditions.
Spread 4″–6″ of compacted crushed stone or gravel (minimum 95% compaction) as the base layer.
Add 1″ of bedding sand or screenings, screeding it to create a level surface.
Step 2: Laying the Pavers
Arrange pavers in the desired pattern, such as running bond or herringbone.
Maintain consistent joint spacing of 1/8″–1/4″.
Tap each paver gently with a rubber mallet to secure it in the bedding layer.
Use a level regularly to ensure a flat, even surface.
Step 3: Cutting and Adjustments
Step 4: Joint Filling
Sweep polymeric sand or fine joint sand into the paver gaps.
Compact the surface using a plate compactor with a rubber pad to avoid damaging edges.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist with water to activate the binding agents.
Sealing & Maintenance
Apply a penetrating sealer formulated for marble and outdoor use to protect against stains and extend lifespan.
Re-seal every 1–2 years, depending on foot traffic and weather conditions.
Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners that can etch the marble.
Disclaimer
Marble is a natural stone with veining, color variation, and subtle surface movement—these are inherent features that add character. Proper sub-base preparation and drainage planning are essential for optimal outdoor performance. Always perform a dry layout and test a small area before completing the full installation.
