Installation Guide – Charcoal 16″x24″ Tumbled Travertine Paver
Important Notice
This guide covers only the placement of pavers. Base preparation and leveling must be completed by qualified professionals prior to installation.
Step 1: Dry Layout & Planning
Lay out pavers without adhesive to examine natural color variations, veining, and surface texture.
Arrange in balanced patterns, such as running bond or ashlar layouts, to ensure visual harmony.
Mark guide lines to maintain straight, aligned rows during installation.
Step 2: Paver Placement
Carefully set each 16″x24″ paver on the prepared bedding layer.
Keep joint spacing consistent at 1/8″–1/4″ for sand or joint filler.
Lightly tap pavers with a rubber mallet to ensure they are fully seated and level.
Step 3: Cutting & Adjustments
Use a wet saw with a diamond blade rated for travertine for clean, precise cuts.
Support large-format pavers during cutting to prevent chipping or cracking.
Smooth exposed edges to preserve a finished, natural appearance.
Step 4: Joint Filling
Fill all joints with polymeric sand or a travertine-compatible joint filler.
Gently compact and sweep away excess material.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist to activate bonding as directed by the manufacturer.
Step 5: Sealing & Maintenance
Once installation is dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer suitable for exterior travertine.
Re-seal every 1–2 years depending on weather and traffic.
Clean only with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.
Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural stone and may feature tonal variations, veining, and small surface pits—these are part of its unique character. Always dry-lay and inspect pavers before final installation. Professional installation is recommended for optimal durability and long-term performance.
