Installation Guide – Charcoal 12″x24″ Tumbled Travertine Paver
Important Notice
This guide covers only the placement of pavers. Preparation of the sub-base and bedding must be performed by qualified professionals before installation.
Step 1: Dry Layout & Planning
Lay out the pavers without adhesive to assess natural color variations and surface texture.
Arrange in visually balanced patterns, such as running bond or staggered layouts, to minimize lippage.
Mark reference lines to maintain straight, evenly spaced rows.
Step 2: Paver Placement
Place each 12″x24″ paver carefully on the prepared bedding layer.
Keep joint spacing consistent at 1/8″–1/4″ for sand or joint filler.
Lightly tap each paver with a rubber mallet to ensure full seating and level alignment.
Step 3: Cutting & Adjustments
Use a wet saw with a diamond blade rated for travertine for precise cuts.
Support pavers securely during cutting to avoid chipping or cracking.
Smooth exposed cut edges to maintain the natural tumbled look.
Step 4: Joint Filling
Fill all joints with polymeric sand or a travertine-approved joint filler.
Compact gently, then sweep away excess material.
If using polymeric sand, lightly mist to activate bonding following manufacturer instructions.
Step 5: Sealing & Maintenance
After installation is dry, apply a breathable, penetrating sealer suitable for exterior travertine.
Re-seal every 1–2 years, depending on climate and foot traffic.
Clean only with pH-neutral stone cleaners; avoid acidic or abrasive products.
Disclaimer
Travertine is a natural stone with tonal variation, veining, and minor surface pits—these are part of its unique character. Always dry-lay pavers and inspect before final installation. Professional installation is strongly recommended for optimal durability and appearance.
