Installation Guide – Step by Step

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Flat, Clean, and Ready

Make sure the substrate is level, dry, and structurally stable.
Check with a 10-ft straightedge; variations should not exceed 1/8″.
Apply a self-leveling compound if needed to correct dips or humps.
In wet areas such as bathrooms or showers, apply a waterproofing membrane.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Balance and Flow

Mark centerlines and create a reference grid to keep the layout symmetrical.
Dry-lay tiles to preview color and veining variations.
Mix tiles from different boxes for a more natural, consistent look.
Maintain 1/16″–1/8″ grout joints, adjusting as needed for flatness.

Step 3: Mortar Application – Use High-Performance Thin-Set

Recommended Adhesives:

• Mapei Ultraflex LFT White

• Laticrete 4-XLT or 254 Platinum White

• Ardex X77 or X5 White

Instructions:

• Use a 1/2″ square-notched trowel to spread white thin-set.

• Back-butter each tile for 100% coverage and to prevent hollow spots.

• Work in small sections to prevent mortar from skinning over.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Precision is Key

Cut tiles with a wet saw and a premium continuous-rim diamond blade.
Polish exposed edges for a smooth, finished look.
Always dry-fit cut tiles before permanent placement.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Perfect Alignment

Use a leveling system designed for large-format tiles to prevent lippage.
Tap tiles lightly with a rubber mallet to keep them even.
Use spacers to maintain consistent grout joints.
Clean away excess thin-set immediately to avoid stains.
Allow a 24-hour curing period before grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Long-Term Protection

Seal the honed marble with a penetrating sealer prior to grouting.
Use non-sanded grout to protect the honed surface.
Grout diagonally with a rubber float, then wipe joints promptly.
Buff surface after 20–30 minutes to remove haze.
Apply a second coat of sealer after grout cures (around 72 hours).

Maintenance Tips – Keep the Beauty Intact

Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners.
Wipe spills immediately to prevent stains.
Re-seal every 6–12 months in high-traffic or wet areas.
Avoid acidic cleaners like vinegar or bleach that may etch marble.
