Installation Guide – Step by Step for Botticino 3″x12″ Polished Marble Tile

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Solid, Clean Base

• Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or debris.

• Apply a waterproofing membrane in moisture-prone areas such as backsplashes or shower walls.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Precision Matters

• Mix tiles from different boxes to achieve visual consistency.

• Decide on layout: stacked, offset, herringbone, or vertical to suit your design.

• Maintain 1/16″ grout joints for a clean, modern look with polished edges.

Step 3: Mortar Application – White Thin-Set

Recommended Mortars:

• Mapei Ultraflex 1 or LFT White

Instructions:

• Back-butter tiles for proper coverage and bonding.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Accurate & Clean

• Use a wet saw with a continuous-rim diamond blade to minimize chipping.

• Polish exposed edges for a smooth, professional finish.

• Dry-fit cut tiles before final placement to ensure proper alignment.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Flat & Precise

• Press each tile firmly into the mortar and check alignment with a level.

• Use spacers or wedges to maintain consistent joint spacing.

• Clean excess mortar promptly with a damp sponge to protect the polished surface.

• Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Preserve the Finish

• Pre-seal polished marble to prevent grout haze and staining.

• Use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching the polished surface.

• Apply grout diagonally with a rubber float and remove excess immediately.

• Buff the surface after 20–30 minutes to remove any haze.
