Installation Guide – Calacatta Marble 6″x12″ Polished Beveled Tile

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Solid, Level Base
Make sure the substrate is clean, dry, and structurally sound. Remove dust, oils, or debris. Check for flatness (maximum 1/8″ deviation over 10 feet). Apply a waterproof membrane in moisture-prone areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, or showers.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Highlight the Veining
Mark reference lines for symmetry and balanced placement. Dry-lay tiles to review the natural flow of Calacatta veining. Mix tiles from multiple boxes to maintain color and veining consistency. Recommended grout spacing: 1/16″ to 1/8″ to complement beveled edges.

Step 3: Mortar Application – White Thin-Set Required

Ardex X5 White

Apply a 1/4″ square-notched trowel layer. Back-butter tiles to ensure full coverage and eliminate hollow spots. Work in small sections to prevent mortar from drying before tile placement.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Accurate & Clean
Use a wet saw with a continuous-rim diamond blade for precise, chip-free cuts. Polish exposed edges to match the polished surface. Dry-fit all pieces to confirm proper alignment before setting.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Smooth & Even
Position tiles carefully using spacers for uniform grout lines. Press tiles firmly with hand pressure or a rubber mallet to ensure full contact and prevent lippage. Clean excess mortar immediately to protect the polished finish. Let adhesive cure for 24 hours prior to grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Protect & Preserve
Pre-seal tiles before grouting to prevent stains. Use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching polished surfaces. Apply grout diagonally with a rubber float and wipe off residue quickly. Buff any haze with a soft microfiber cloth after 20–30 minutes. After 72 hours, apply a second sealer to protect tile and grout.
