Installation Guide – Carrara Marble Tile 18″x36″ Polished

Step 1: Surface Preparation – Solid & Level Base
Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and structurally sound. Remove dust, debris, and contaminants. Check flatness with a 10-ft straightedge; variation should not exceed 1/8″. Apply self-leveling underlayment where needed to accommodate large-format tiles. For wet areas, install a waterproof membrane to protect against moisture.

Step 2: Layout Planning – Optimize Flow & Seam Placement
Mark reference lines for balanced placement and minimal cuts. Dry-lay tiles to preview veining patterns and blend tiles from multiple boxes for natural variation. Plan grout spacing between 1/16″ and 1/8″ to complement the beveled edges.

Step 3: Mortar Application – Ensure Strong Bond
Recommended Mortars: Mapei Ultraflex LFT White, Laticrete 4-XLT or 254 Platinum White, Ardex X77 White.
Use a 1/2″ square-notched trowel to apply mortar evenly. Back-butter each tile to prevent hollow spots. Install tiles while the mortar is fresh, using light pressure or a rubber mallet to ensure full contact.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting – Precision & Care
Cut tiles with a wet saw equipped with a continuous-rim diamond blade. Polish cut edges as needed to match the polished finish. Dry-fit all cut pieces to confirm alignment before final installation.

Step 5: Setting Tiles – Control Lippage & Consistency
Use a tile leveling system to maintain flatness across large tiles. Ensure uniform joint spacing with spacers, and clean excess thin-set immediately to protect the polished surface. Allow adhesive to cure for 24 hours before grouting.

Step 6: Grouting & Sealing – Protect & Enhance
Pre-seal tiles with a penetrating marble-safe sealer. Apply non-sanded grout diagonally using a rubber float, wiping joints clean promptly. Remove haze after 20–30 minutes with a soft microfiber cloth. Re-seal tiles and grout after full curing (approximately 72 hours) to maintain long-lasting protection.

Maintenance Tips – Keep the Surface Pristine
Use only pH-neutral, marble-safe cleaners. Wipe spills immediately to prevent etching or staining. Re-seal every 6–12 months depending on exposure. Use protective pads under furniture to avoid scratches.
