Installation Guide – Basalt 6″x24″ Split-Face Ledgestone Panel (Vertical Walls Only)

Step 1: Surface Preparation

  • Ensure the wall is clean, dry, level, and structurally sound.

  • Suitable substrates: cement backer board, concrete block, or masonry.

  • Do not install directly over drywall; use metal lath and a scratch coat if necessary.

  • Apply a waterproof membrane for wet or exterior areas.

Step 2: Layout & Orientation

  • Designed exclusively for vertical wall installation.

  • Dry-lay several panels to blend natural variations in shade and texture.

  • Stagger vertical seams for a natural, continuous appearance.

  • Mark centerlines or reference lines to align the first row accurately.

Step 3: Adhesive Application

Recommended Mortars:

  • Laticrete MVIS Hi-Bond

  • Mapei Ultraflex LFT or equivalent polymer-modified thin-set

Instructions:

  • Apply mortar to the wall using a 1/2″ square-notched trowel.

  • Back-butter each panel fully for maximum adhesion.

  • Press panels firmly into place, using a slight twisting motion to ensure full contact.

  • Install from the bottom up, working in manageable sections.

  • Spacers are generally unnecessary—this is a dry-stack system.

Step 4: Cutting & Fitting

  • Cut panels using a wet saw with a continuous-rim diamond blade.

  • Trim edges and corners as needed to maintain alignment.

  • Use mitered returns or matching corner pieces for professional transitions.

Step 5: Curing & Sealing

  • Allow adhesive to cure 24–48 hours before exposing panels to moisture or weight.

  • Remove excess mortar immediately with a damp sponge—do not let it dry on the stone surface.

  • Optionally, apply a high-quality penetrating sealer to enhance color and protect against staining.

Maintenance Tips

  • Clean with a pH-neutral stone cleaner and a soft brush or cloth.

  • Avoid acidic, bleach-based, or abrasive cleaning products.

  • Reapply sealer every 1–2 years depending on indoor/outdoor exposure.
